Lo-Fi Beat Maker
Lo-fi drums are slow, swung and soft around the edges. The Dusty kit runs everything through a low-pass filter so the hats never get harsh, and 30% swing gives that lazy, behind-the-beat feel.

808 bass & chords
Gm7 → C7 → Fmaj7 → Dm7
The 808 follows the chord root in each bar; set a step's offset to walk the bassline. Pads hold until the next chord hit. Stabs are short.
Click a step once for a hit, twice for an accent, three times to clear. Space plays/stops, T taps tempo, R makes a random beat.

How to make a lo-fi beat
- Keep the tempo between 70 and 90 BPM.
- Use the Dusty Boom Bap kit: it filters out the top end for a worn, tape-like tone.
- Push swing to 25–35%. This single control creates most of the lo-fi feel.
- Lower the hi-hat volume and add a quiet shaker on the in-between 16ths.
- Keep the kick simple and leave empty bars: lo-fi is meant to sit under a melody.
Typical tempo: 70–90 BPM. Need to match a reference track? Find its tempo with tap tempo.
Slow, heavily swung and filtered. The lazy feel comes from swing, not from playing off the grid.
Lo-fi beat questions
How do I make drums sound lo-fi?
Slow tempo, heavy swing, softer hats and a low-pass filter. The Dusty kit here does the filtering for you; the rest is the swing slider.
What BPM is lo-fi hip hop?
Usually 70–90 BPM. Many popular tracks sit between 75 and 85.
