How to program it

  1. Keep your normal tempo (here 120 BPM).
  2. Snare only on beat 3: step 9.
  3. Kick on step 1 and a pickup on step 7.
  4. Keep 8th hats so the speed is still felt.

Questions

What does half-time mean in drums?

The backbeat is played half as often: once per bar on beat 3 instead of on 2 and 4. The tempo is the same but the groove feels half as fast. Trap, dubstep and many rock breakdowns use it.
